RE: Black tank pull valves are leaking on my fuzion

I hope it helps too. We also had put on an external valve gate because it wasn't closing all the way.

RE: Black tank pull valves are leaking on my fuzion

Are you sure you need to replace them? Ours wouldn't close completely and we thought the same, but a serviceman at a local RV shop said they are probably gunked up. He recommended Thetford RV drain valve lubricant. We followed the directions and they now open and close completely!

RE: Truck / 5th Wheel Combo - Do the numbers add up?

Without talking about all the numbers, ratios, GVW, etc. We towed our heavy FW (in sig) which is close to 14k fully loaded first with an F250, SRW, short bed. Big mistake. We added air bags to the pickup and they kept failing. We traded it in for an F350, long bed, dually and what a difference in towing. No sway, no wobble, just a solid ride! I would highly recommend a long bed for any heavy FW towing.

RE: Replace Girard tankless how water heater

With any water heater the water in the pipes heater to tap/shower is room temp. And there is your quart. the Tankless has hot water coming out the outlet within half a cup. Go home. Turn on the shower. How long before you get hot water out of your tank type water heater? The only disadvantage to Tankless is you have a minimum flow rate before it heats. There is definitely a delay with tankless. A tank heater has 130ยบ water ready to go. A tankless does not. The cooler water in the pipes is a factor for both. Tankless does not produce hot water instantaneously. It takes a few moments for tankless to produce hot water. You will notice the lag or delay with tankless in a house or RV. That said tankless is a very bad idea for an RV. My 10 gallon tank water heater gives me unlimited hot water. I never run out. Having unlimited hot water via tankless is a fallacy. You don't have unlimited supply nor do you have unlimited waste water storage. Agree. We would never have a tankless, nor a 12v fridge as both seem to the norm with the newer RVs. As for the tankless, friends of ours reported filling a dish tub full of water before it even got hot, hence he installed a mod noted in my other post. We have a tankless in our house and even with the water at full blast, there is a delay up to a minute for the faucets furthest away from the tankless. In that delay, an easy two gallons can be collected.

RE: Replace Girard tankless how water heater

Friends of ours just bought a new Acadia and have the tankless water heater. It wasted so much water, they were frustrated. He researched and instead of removing, he added this to their kitchen sink counter and she loves it. It turns white when the water is hot and ready and no more wasting water. Here is the link to the product.

RE: Extensive Traveling with a 5th Wheel

Friends of ours bought a lightweight Arcadia Fifth Wheel. It came with a 12v fridge and one solar panel. They added a solar suitcase for additional solar. It also came with a tankless water heater. After one trip and wasting two gallons of water before the water heated up, he added this add on and they love it.

Glad it was a good experience for you.

RE: Teton Pass

Going to drive the Teton pass from Victor to Jackson WY (Eastbound) with the truck and trailer in my signature. Will let you know what I like or dislike about it. I have years of semi driving experience and have drove many mountain passes with the trailer. Jeff Please do let us know if this was as bad as some say. I'm planning a trip next summer, and will go from Gros Venture CG to Madison CG., and this looks like the way to go. I would just be westbound. I have a 2022 F450 and a 16K lbs trailer, with lots of mtn driving exp. I doubt it would be a good idea to go up hwy 191 all the way thru Yellowstone pulling my 36' 5th wheel. Thanks, Mark The drive up through the Snake River Canyon is beautiful and much more enjoyable.

RE: Teton Pass

We took it once and even with our current truck and FW, we go around to Alpine Pass for an easier, more enjoyable, less butt puckering ride!

RE: Fifth wheel chucking (practical help needed)

Hitch and also the suspension. We have a TrailerSaver BD3 with air bags AND Equa-flex spring suspensions. We boondock a lot taking FS roads, but even on paved roads, we don't have that chucking.

RE: Really Dusty Roads? Would this be viable in the US?

I can see where you can keep the interior dust down if you install a vent that sucks in filtered air from the exterior. Without a filter you're just sucking in dust. From their website it appears the Gusto uses filtered air to pressurize the interior so I can see a benefit. At $2,250 AUD (approx $1,450 USD) I would be rather go buy an air filter housing from a wrecked vehicle at the junk yard. Then add a fan and some ducting to the outside and you have a poor mans Gusto for a whole lot cheaper. At that price I agree with you!!!

RE: Really Dusty Roads? Would this be viable in the US?

Out here in the West, there are a lot of boondockers. The first I do when we set up is dust!

RE: Tire Recommendation for Tow Vehicle

We have Toyo AT Open Country on our TV. The most off road we do is back on forest service roads for boondocking. Nothing crazy because of our FW.

RE: Route to McCall Idaho

Hwy 55 from Boise to McCall is winding canyon for the first section, the after your climb up to the Round Valley, it's wide open and fairly flat after that except a short climb and downgrade north of Cascade on Little Donner Summit. If you go around on Hwy 95 through Weiser, Cambridge and New Meadows, then on over to McCall, it is a bit longer and about the same in climbs in short sections. When we head up there, we always go Hwy 55. It's scenic, but watch the other drivers. A lot of people like to speed through there and there tends to be quite a few accidents. In just the last two weeks there have been three.

RE: Dometic VS Norcold dc refrigerators

Per our RV tech - Dometic does better at high altitudes. Having camped a lot at 7 - 9k elevation with no problem, I can attest to his expert advice.
